Creative Arts Therapy and Wellness Program
As a part of the Pain Management team at the RCWMCH, The Creative Arts Therapy and Wellness Program (CATWP) oversees therapeutic interventions designed to complement the medical treatment model and address primary and secondary trauma. Therapy modalities include the use of play, art, music, movement/yoga, visualization, touch and additional clinically effective treatment for trauma to assist children and family members to identify, cope with and integrate stressful experiences triggered or exacerbated by injury and illness (See the Therapies - link). In addition, the CTWP offers care for the caregivers and training related to compassion fatigue, burnout and stress to nursing and medical staff.

With our first priority being to serve the Pain Team, we would like to eventually extend the services of CTWP to paediatric patients, family members and staff in other areas of the hospital beyond the scope of the Pain Team. Through the help of donations, our goal is to increase capacity of CTWP to provide services to all areas of the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital. (Donate link)
